Professor Jin-Hui Zhong, Dr. Naiying Hao and Dr. Jin Yang were invited to the 28th International Conference on Raman Spectroscopy

From July 27th to August 4th, 2024, Professor Jin-Hui Zhong, Dr. Naiying Hao, and Dr. Jin Yang attended the 28th International Conference on Raman Spectroscopy (ICORS 2024) at Sapienza University in Rome. Since the inaugural event in 1969, ICORS has continued to bring together researchers from diverse fields to discuss the most recent progress and emerging ideas in Raman spectroscopy. ICORS 2024 was organized in different macro-areas, covering the following list of topics: Ultrafast processes, coherent scattering, biomedical imaging, pharmaceuticals, disease characterization, low dimensional materials, extreme conditions, cultural heritage, forensic science, metrology, environmental and remote sensing, surface and resonance enhancements, gas phase spectroscopy, planetary and astronomical physical chemistry, energy harvesting and transport, optoelectronics, industrial applications and novel instrumentation, multi-dimensional vibrational spectroscopy, X-ray scattering, quantum light processes. Attendees range from leading experts to junior researchers and graduate students, with informal exchange of ideas encouraged among all. Perhaps most importantly, ICORS also plays a valuable role in maintaining a cohesive group of international researchers interested in Raman spectroscopy and related topics, whose interactions transcend the meetings and endure a year round!

During ICORS 2024, Professor Jin-Hui Zhong, Dr. Naiying Hao, and Dr. Jin Yang presented two oral scientific presentations and one poster, sharing recent research advancements from Zhong’s Group with fellow attendees.

Professor Jin-Hui Zhong: Auger- assisted hot carrier transfer in a type Ⅰ MoS2/ PtSe2 heterostructure probed by TA and 2DES spectroscopy.

Dr. Naiying Hao: SERS characterization of atomic level adsorption sites on Pd/Au catalysts surface during electrocatalytic CO2 reduction.

Dr. Jin Yang: Auger-assisted secondary hot carrier transfer in a type Ⅰ MoS2/PtSe2 heterostructure.

Organized by ICORS 2024, attendees dressed as ancient Romans for social dinner, sharing latest findings and exploring future potentials of Raman technology with colleagues from all over the world.

In Rome, we were fortunate to have breakfast with Academician Zhong-Qun Tian, whose insights during our conversation were immensely valuable.
